Day 1: Ha Giang – Thai An – Duong Thuong – Du Gia – Waterfall
We’ll start our journey from Ha Giang City around 8:00 to 9:00 AM.
On the way to Thai An, we’ll pass through peaceful villages such as Thuan Hoa and Trang Ky, giving you a glimpse of local life in the countryside. Along the road, we’ll make several stops at scenic viewpoints to enjoy the beautiful landscape. These stops will be short—about 10 to 15 minutes each—so we can keep a good pace for the day.
We’ll stop for lunch at a local restaurant, either in Thai An or Duong Thuong, depending on our timing.
After lunch, we’ll ride through a vast valley surrounded by mountains on our way to Du Gia Village, a quiet and picturesque area known for its natural beauty.
Once we arrive in Du Gia, we’ll check in to a local homestay, hosted by a Tay ethnic minority family. If there’s enough time in the afternoon, we’ll visit the nearby waterfall, where you can relax or go for a refreshing swim. We’ll spend 30 minutes to 1 hour at the waterfall before heading back to the homestay for dinner and a cozy night in the mountains.
Day 2: Du Gia – Ngoc Long River – Mau Due – Meo Vac – Ma Pi Leng – Dong Van
On the second day, get your backpack ready as we continue the journey through the mountains.
It takes around 2 hours to ride from Du Gia to the beautiful Ngoc Long River, where we’ll spend about 1 hour enjoying the peaceful scenery. Here, you can ride a bamboo raft, swim in a natural river pool, and explore a nearby cave—a perfect way to connect with nature.
After our time at the river, we’ll head straight to Mau Due for a lunch break.
From Mau Due, we continue riding toward Dong Van, with several scenic stops along the way. We’ll pass through the legendary Ma Pi Leng Pass, one of the most stunning roads in all of Ha Giang. From the top, you’ll have breathtaking views of the Nho Que River and even catch a glimpse of China across the border.
For those who are up for it, there’s an optional 6 km trek along the “Death Mountain” trail, a 2-hour hike that leads to a viewpoint where your easy-rider motorbikes will be waiting. Along the way, you’ll also see a monument honoring the brave workers who lost their lives while building the road from Meo Vac to Dong Van—a road often called the “Happy Road”, built with great sacrifice to bring life and connection to this remote area.
After the hike, we’ll continue to Dong Van, where we’ll check in at a local H’mong homestay and spend the night surrounded by traditional culture and mountain views.
Day 3: Dong Van – H’mong King’s Palace – Lao Sang Village – Yen Minh – Quan Ba
We begin Day 3 around 8:30 or 9:00 AM, departing from Dong Van and heading to the historic H’mong King’s Palace. This is where you’ll get a glimpse into the life of the H’mong royal family and learn how a member of the H’mong community rose to power as a king. The architecture and artifacts offer fascinating insights into H’mong history and culture.
After that, we continue riding for about 1 hour to reach Lao Sang Village, where we’ll experience a different side of H’mong culture. Here, you can see how local artisans use traditional blacksmithing techniques to craft beautiful silver jewelry such as rings, bracelets, and necklaces. Nearby, we’ll also visit another H’mong family that makes the Qeej—a traditional H’mong musical instrument used in ceremonies and celebrations.
Following our cultural visit, we ride toward the famous Tham Ma Pass, stopping for about 10 minutes to take in the stunning views and snap some photos.
From there, we head to Yen Minh, where we’ll stop for lunch and take a 30-minute to 1-hour break to rest and recharge.
After lunch, it’s about a 2-hour motorbike ride to our final stop for the day, but we’ll continue making stops at scenic viewpoints along the way. One of the highlights will be a visit to Can Ty Village, where you’ll get to see the White H’mong community and their traditional handicrafts.
We expect to arrive at the Dao Homestay in Nam Dam Village, Quan Ba Town, around 4:00 or 5:00 PM. This beautiful village is home to the Dao ethnic group, and the peaceful atmosphere makes it a perfect place to relax and reflect on your journey so far.
Day 4: Nam Dam – Lung Khuy Cave – Quan Ba – Fairy Mountain – Heaven’s Gate – Bac Sum – Ha Giang
In the morning after breakfast, we’ll take a 30-minute walk around Nam Dam Village, a peaceful place rich in Dao ethnic culture and traditional architecture.
After the walk, we ride for about 20 minutes to the nearby Lung Khuy Village, where we begin a 20-minute hike uphill to reach the stunning Lung Khuy Cave. This hidden gem is one of the most beautiful natural caves in Ha Giang—stretching over 100 meters deep, filled with unique rock formations and untouched natural beauty.
Once we finish exploring the cave, we return to Quan Ba Town for lunch.
After lunch, we continue the journey up the Heaven’s Gate Pass, riding along the winding mountain road that climbs to nearly 1,000 meters in elevation. At the top, we’ll enjoy some truly breathtaking panoramic views, including the famous Fairy Mountains (Twin Mountains).
From Heaven’s Gate, we begin our 2-hour ride back to Ha Giang City, passing through Bac Sum Pass along the way. We expect to arrive in Ha Giang around 3:00 to 4:00 PM, where you’ll have time to rest, shower, and relax at your hotel or our office.
Later in the evening, we’ll help arrange your bus back to Hanoi.
